  • Why aren't golf tournaments successful?

It's not that tournaments aren't successful it's that they are limited by their very nature to how much they will raise.  For example, let's say I successfully recruited a "full field" for my golf tournament and each one paid $100 to participate.  That would be 144 golfers at $100 each for a grand total of $14,400.

That would be ok if you could pocket 100% of those funds but you won't.  The expense of the golf course and feeding the players a nice lunch or dinner will take at least 50% of the funds.  Most golf tournaments have to rely on Hole Sponsorships(selling advertising), selling tickets for Mulligans at the tournament, or in many cases they add another event to the tournament and conduct a Silent Auction after the tournament.

I have met with many people who put on golf tournaments and the planning and time commitment is at least 8 months if not a year.

Doesn't it make sense to raise substantially more money with less effort and time than a traditional golf tournament does?

Do I need to recruit golfers to have a successful campaign?

Absolutely not!  Our campaigns are not golf tournaments therefore recruiting people with good golf skills is not important.  In fact, your most successful participants will have little or no golf experience at all!  When these people tell their sphere of influence what they are doing and then ask them to sponsor them in this challenging marathon, 8 out of 10 people will give them exactly what they ask for, at least $1 per hole in sponsorships and one time pledges.

You say your campaign is volunteer driven, tell me more?

The wonder of our campaign is that it is very much volunteer driven.  People give to people!  So when you leverage your volunteers and give them the training and tools to ask their sphere of influence (both personal and professional) to sponsor them in this challenging event, it really works.

How is it possible to play 100 holes of golf in one day?

Oh, it's very possible!  In fact, every week organizations just like yours complete 100 holes and more culminating a 12 week campaign which in many cases is the organizations single largest fund-raising event.

So, how does it get done?  Well, golf is slow because 2 people with different golf skills get into the same cart and away they go.  So, in our campaigns every golfer gets their own cart.  Most golfers are not consistent when they hit their ball.  Many hook or slice the ball and then go off to look for their ball.  There is no need to do this in our campaigns because the participant is instructed NOT to look for lost balls.  We provide all the golf balls you could possibly lose.  Golf is slow because the course is long.  The golf will occur on a shorter golf course that isn't intimidating to the average golfer.

These are just a few of the methods we use to speed up the game.  There are others that are employed on the Day of Event that will have your participants finished in less than 6 hours total time.

    Is Richard a good golfer?

No.  The beauty of this game is you don't have to be good to enjoy it.  When I play, usually once a month, I really have a great time.  I especially enjoy playing golf with my son.
